Bugsy’s Club Closes its Cyber Doors

A few years ago, online poker rooms were thriving and everyone was trying to get a piece of the action.  And players in the United States were key in fueling many of these poker rooms since they were betting money at an unbelievable rate.  But now things have definitely changed for the worst in regards to the US economy and online poker as a whole.  We saw Duplicate Poker shut down late last year as they were a casualty of the worsening US economy.

Now we find out that Bugsy’s Club has also chosen to shut down it operations since they were obviously not making enough money to survive financially.  Those who tried to play this morning were met with a message that thanked players for their business and told them how Bugsy’s Club did its best to fulfill its goal.  Now the side operation of the Online Poker School is no longer and Bugsy’s Club players will have to go elsewhere to satisfy their poker cravings.

People that used to play at Bugsy’s Club have been urged to transfer their money to one of the sites that seems to be more than surviving the UIGEA and tough economic times in PokerStars.  All of this leaves me wondering just how many other poker rooms will be forced to shut down because of the dip in American funds.

Sure Full Tilt Poker and PokerStars will continue to thrive and so will top European rooms like Titan Poker, but there are plenty of smaller places that are feeling the crunch.  I know Duplicate Poker mentioned something about reopening in the future, however, that future may never come if things continue down the same path that they are currently on.
