When Poker Forums aren’t so Great

Just like any other popular subject, forums exist widely throughout the poker world.  Hop on any poker forum and you’re bound to find dozens, or even hundreds, of people that share the same views as you on countless subjects such as strategy, venues, player reputations, etc.  Unfortunately, player reputation opinions can get a little out of control on many poker forums.

All too often, poker forums can turn into gossip posting rooms where players talk back and forth among each other about who’s doing who or how this person does crazy things, and so forth.  At this point, poker forums no longer have anything to do about players discussing ways to make each other better, talking about their experiences in different tournaments, or anything else half-ways related to the game of poker.

In fact, a lot of times the things said on poker forums are only written for the purpose of slamming other players or for the means of getting back at someone.  And don’t get me wrong - I’m all for letting the behaviors of the real assholes in poker come to the surface.  However, I don’t like sifting through all of the garbage and rumors about so and so having sex.

As much money as there is to be made in poker, and as many better things there are to do than gossip about other players I think people shouldn’t be getting on forums and spreading ridiculous rumors.  Unfortunately, I’m still looking for that perfect forum where I don’t have to look through countless posts of this stuff to find what I want to read.  Hopefully, some day I will find it.
