Best WSOP Performances of All Time
The WSOP is right around the corner and this means that there will be at least one person who will etch themselves in WSOP lore. Last year the case could’ve been made that several people vied for the best performance of the WSOP. But one thing is for sure, and that is none of the players last year had a performance worthy of putting them in these players’ class.
Layne Flack
There are quite a few people who don’t really like Layne Flack, but they can’t take away his accomplishments. Flack had the best two year run of all time in the WSOP when he won 2 bracelets in 2002 and came back in 2003 to win 2 more which earned him the nickname “back-to-back Flack”.
Ted Forrest
Ted Forrest has made a name for himself for all kinds of crazy prop bets and marathon poker sessions. But his legend began in 1993 when he was able to win 3 bracelets in the same WSOP.
Phil Hellmuth
What’s amazing is that Ted Forrest wasn’t the only 3 bracelet winner in 1993 since Phil Hellmuth also pulled off that feat in the same WSOP. As large as the WSOP fields are getting today, this is something which we may never see again.
Phil Ivey
Phil Ivey was able to rocket his name into consideration for the world’s best player when he took down 3 bracelets in 2002. Ivey still remains in that discussion today although he avoids most tournaments, and instead focuses on high stakes cash games.
