Where will the durrrr Challenge leave him?

I thought the terms of the challenge that Tom “durrrr” Dwan made several months ago to the poker world was a little crazy when it was first announced.  Dwan was basically spotting whoever agreed to play him in heads-up action a 3-1 handicap since durrrr would only get $500k if he won while his opponent would earn $1.5 million for defeating him.

I don’t know if he truly thinks that he that much better than the rest of the poker players out there or if this was some big ploy to gain publicity so he could land a huge deal with some company.  Whatever the reason for why Dwan chose to make such a bold challenge, he’s already in trouble as Patrik Anotnius is up over $400k on him in their contest.

And the gap only seems to be widening instead of narrowing as Antonius was able to take even more cash off of Dwan.  Sure durrrr was able to help himself out by taking about $500k off of Phil Ivey outside of the challenge, but it’s money that you know Ivey will get back eventually if the two continue to play.

So I’m wondering where this challenge will leave durrrr after everything is said and done.  If he loses to Antonius, he will have not only lost the money they’ve been playing with in the competition, but he’ll have also lost $1.5 million.  Plus he’s set to play Phil Ivey in his next challenge which certainly won’t be any picnic since Ivey is regarded by many as the best player in the world.  We won’t know for sure where this is going, but I don’t predict it will be good for Dwan in the end.
