Howard Stern joins Poker Players Alliance

In a bit of very interesting news, the Poker Players Alliance announced that Howard Stern would be joining their ranks.  This news comes after the PPA Chairman Alfonso D’Amato appeared on the show to kick off National Poker Week.

D’Amato later commented on Stern joining the PPA by saying, “I can’t think of a more fitting way to kick off National Poker Week than having my friend, Howard Stern, become a member of the PPA.  I thank him for having me on his show this morning and for supporting the PPA’s efforts to protect the freedom of American citizens to play the great game of poker at the time and place of their choosing – a freedom Congress voted to take away.”

The controversial Stern has long stood for the rights of people to do as they please, and has earned a reputation by not being afraid to discuss whatever is on his mind.  Stern often discusses the different conspiracies set up by the government and religious institutions in between his talks with all types of famous people.

Adding Howard Stern to their list of supporters will be helpful since Stern has access to such a wide range of listeners through his Sirius Satellite Radio station.  Stern will be able to reach out to a number of people who might otherwise not ever hear anything about poker.  Of course adding Howard to their list of supporters is just one more step in what has been a lengthy process to get the government to repeal the UIGEA and other anti-poker legislature.  But hopefully the addition of Stern will be a big step that is sure to help immensely.
