The Plan for Jackpots

One thing that is attracting quite a few poker players to certain rooms is poker jackpots.  Unlike playing in normal poker games, jackpot poker games allow people to get rich quick without having to slowly build their bankroll through grinding.  But most people make a big mistake when playing jackpot games in that they don’t have a good plan going in.

In fact, most people don’t even consider playing differently in a bad beat room since they think it’s just a matter of sticking around while waiting to hit the big one.  However, anybody who doesn’t switch their strategy up some when playing in bad beat rooms is wasting their money.

When you’re in a bad beat game, it’s best to see more flops when holding hands like low pocket pairs and suited connectors.  Sure these hands won’t get you far in a lot of normal games since most people muck these unless trying to semi-bluff or steal a pot.  But low pocket pairs and suited connectors are golden in bad beat games since they enable people to hit a hand of 4-of-a-kind or better (the industry standard in bad beat games that someone needs to get beat with).

The math is simple: the more stellar hands you hit, the more likely you are to be beaten with a truly excellent hand.  So you obviously need to give yourself the best possible shot at hitting lots of four-of-a-kinds or better hands.

Of course, even with a good strategy, hitting a bad beat jackpot is tough since so many other people are going to be trying to claim it - especially when they hit $500,000 or more!  However, you give yourself a lot better chance when you have a strategy and stick to it!
