Transitioning to a New Poker Game
By now everyone knows that Texas Hold’em is saturated with players. It’s no longer like it was 10 years ago (or even 5 years for that matter) when anyone who had read a couple of decent poker books could dominate the lower limits. There are good players at every level in Texas Hold’em which makes it virtually impossible to make a decent living off of the game alone; rakeback is a necessity nowadays!
Seeing as how the game is so damn tough, many players are choosing to move to other games such as Omaha and Seven Card Stud in order to make a bigger profit (or any profit at all). But the problem with moving to a new game for many players is that they don’t know how to make the transition in a successful manner. In fact, some players lose even more money trying to make this transition!
So there are definitely a few things you need to keep in mind when making the transition to a new game. The first thing is that you need to undergo another intense studying session before embarking on the new variation you wish to play. This may sound formidable since you probably already studied quite a bit for Texas Hold’em, but it is just something that must be done.
Another thing you should do is play smaller sessions and review them afterwards. Doing this will enable you to get shorter, more intense sessions in where you’ll be able to study better afterwards. One more thing you should definitely do when moving to a new poker game is set achievable goals. If your goals aren’t realistic then you will just end up disappointed over and over again.
