WSOP Final Table Predictions
As was the case last year, talk quieted down in August after the final table for the WSOP had been decided and talked about for long enough. One early prediction by somebody who was actually heavily involved in the 2010 Main Event - Billy Kopp who busted out in 12th place - was that Kevin Schaffel could be walking away with the title. His reasoning for Schaffel being the possible champion was stated when Kopp said, “Throughout the eight days that I played in the Main Event, this guy impressed me the most. I was at several of his tables for an extended period of time and this was the one guy who really gave me trouble.”
Nick Maimone - who finished in 14th place in the Main Event - predicts that one of the most skilled players will win despite being short-stacked. He made this known after saying, “I expect the coaching factor could highly influence the outcome of the Main Event. However, the best players are, in this order, Phil Ivey, James Akenhead, and Joe Cada. Although the chips are not in their favor, one of them will win.”
Whatever the case may be with the predictions, no one is really picking Darvin Moon to win despite his huge chip lead. In fact, many believe that he will become complacent like Dennis Phillips did last year before being knocked out late into the final table. However, Phillips didn’t have quite the chip advantage that Moon does…
